Jennifer Brendel

Jennifer Brendel joined Loyola in 1995 as a Writing Center Specialist. From 1999-2014, Professor Brendel served as Director of Academic Support Programs and from 2014 to the present, she has served as the Director of the Legal Writing Program. In this capacity, Professor Brendel develops the curriculum for all sections of the three-semester required writing course sequence and supports nearly 90 adjunct faculty and student tutors every year. During her career, Professor Brendel has served on a wide range of School of Law and University committees. In addition, she has served on committees for national legal writing organizations and presented at regional and national conferences. In directing the Legal Writing Program, Professor Brendel focuses on preparing students with foundational skills to begin the bridge to practice. Professor Brendel received a BA from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a JD from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
