Abstract

This article uses the framework of racial capitalism to shed light on the climate crisis. It then applies this framework to the proposal to amend the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court to include the crime of ecocide. Will this proposal subvert or reinforce the core features of racial capitalism? Is it a reformist reform that entrenches systemic injustice or a non-reformist reform that begins to dismantle it?
